Self esteem what is it and how do I get some?

Put simply, Self-esteem is essentially an inner knowing and belief of your “self-worth” which provides an internal compass guiding your actions and decisions, especially where people and “life challenges are concerned. 

Why is it important?

When you place a high value on yourself as a person, you respect and value your skills, abilities and life experiences that make you unique. 

This allows you to become confident in what you can accomplish and provides a secure feeling inside that people see externally as a positive, confident attitude that many would like to mirror.

High self-esteem and true success in life have nothing to do with material things, wealth or power. 

Some may be nice to have, but are nothing when compared with the feeling you have when you begin to appreciate yourself, understand your special talents and abilities and be brave enough to share these with the world around you. 

When you truly understand and appreciate yourself “bumps and all” you can move forward in your life with greater confidence. 

This inner knowledge helps you in all areas of your life including your relationships, career and spirituality and greatly contributes to your success, self-esteem and quality of life.

So look around you, “Who do you admire and why?
Chances are you already know someone with high self-esteem. They will be someone you enjoy being with, who lets you be yourself, who’s ego is not over inflated, but they have a strong sense of who they are and are confident in their own abilities. 

They also are responsible and accountable for their own actions and tend to “carry their own weather with them”. This means that they refuse to allow outside influences or negative comments impact on their feelings of self-worth, values they hold or life choices they make.
